Technology demonstration

Waltham, MA—Augmented reality (AR) is recognized as a powerful tool for the digital transformation of the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector. AMC Bridge continuously explores state-of-the-art approaches to enhance user experience during the AEC Design process. As a result of such efforts, we are happy to present AR Weather Simulator for AEC, a new AR-based technology demonstration intended to illustrate how AEC designs can be impacted by real-world weather conditions.

Developed for the iPhone® and iPad Pro® digital mobile devices, the technology demonstration is based on the algorithm of combining building design data and desired weather simulations to further superimpose them on a real landscape using the AR technology. AR Weather Simulator for AEC allows recognizing the real-world geometry of the surrounding object, placing a 3D model into the AR scene, simulating different weather effects, such as snow, rain, fog, and flood, and viewing their impact on the uploaded model and the AR scene itself.

To obtain accurate results that can help implement the necessary improvements on the spot, the technology demonstration also shows how to modify parameters and take photos of weather simulations to share or watch them later.

To see the AR Weather Simulator for AEC technology demonstration in action, watch a short demo video.
